High Chaparral Vineyard
Located in the Kelsey Bench Appellation of Lake County, California, near Mt. Konocti, a dormant Volcano, the vineyard was initially planted in 1978. The allure of the property for Bruce and Joy lies in the fertile volcanic soils, providing a perfect setting to replant Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Agave, and native Elderflowers, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Mayacamas Mountain range.
Bruce's background involved farming sheep and red deer in New Zealand before he met Joy at Lincoln University. Upon relocating to Kelseyville, Joy's hometown, they made the switch from animals to grapes, with Joy leveraging her two decades of experience in winemaking, specifically with North Coast grapes. High Chaparral Vineyard is both certified organic by CCOF and certified sustainable by CSWA.
